A web server is the computer that delivers webpages and content to the end user. Web servers have IP addresses, and they may have a domain name. When someone types in a web address, the server sends the required information out to that user. Some companies have enough web traffic that they may need to have their own server in order to serve their visitors better and with faster content. Some companies may have their own onsite servers, while others may want to use server space from web hosting companies. Today, some servers are even in the cloud.
